By VITA BANDAGOVERNMENT should increase shareholding by over 50 percent in the mining industry for the country to fully benefit from its mineral resources, National Democratic Congress (NDC) President Saboi Imboela has advised.Ms Imboela said with the government owning less than 50 percent shares, it gives an opportunity to foreign investors to exploit the locals. She said foreign investors are developing their own countries at the expense of poor Zambians, a narrative that should change. Ms Imboela added that there are Zambians who have the capacity to own and run mines and the government should work with them. Ms Imboela said the country’s vast mineral resources are some of the many home-grown solutions the government can use to revive the economy.
