FUEL TANKERS STRANDED By PETER SICHALI A FUEL crisis is looming as hundreds of tankers are stranded at the borders following new taxation measures introduced by government.Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia (OMCAZ) President Dr Kafula Mubanga said the reintroduction of fuel Levy at the point of entry has affected supply as OMCs did not provide for their fuel procurement plans. About 1, 000 fuel tankers are marooned at borders awaiting clearance and guidance following the expiry of the Statutory Instrument Number 5 and 77 on December, 31, 2021 which triggered the reintroduction of fuel levy by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
