By OLIVER SAMBOKOPARAMOUNT Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province has urged the government to consider setting up a university in the region with emphasis on technology and agriculture.The traditional leader wondered why successive governments have not built a university in the region despite the province producing a high number of school leavers.“Since independence, no government has ever thought of constructing a university in the region despite the province producing a high number of school leavers who require higher education,” Paramount Chief Mpezeni said.He said there is need for development to be shared equally and that he is happy that the new dawn government has prioritised infrastructure development in the education sector and therefore hopeful that part of the resources will be channeled towards construction of a university in Eastern Province.He said while the province has been contributing to national development in different ways, it was still lagging behind because of lack of […]
