BY MAKOKWA CLARA MUYENDEKWAA 30-YEAR-OLD man has denied trafficking in marijuana and has instead accused his brother, who is on the run, of the offense.Dominic Munachoonga, of Simulangu village in Chief Macha area, has been charged with trafficking in narcotic drugs, contrary to section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.35 of the laws of Zambia, as read together with Statutory Instrument No. 119 of 1995.Particulars of the offence are that Dominic Munachoonga, on 26 August 2021 at Choma District of Southern Province of Zambia, did traffic in narcotic drugs, namely marijuana weighing 50.6 grams without authority.However, in his defense the accused denied the charge, saying it was his brother, Monday, who was trafficking in marijuana and that he was only picked by Drug Enforcement Commission officers because they did not find his brother.He told the court that on 29 June 2021, DEC searched his house and did not find any drugs.
