By ADRIAN MWANZATHE Copperbelt University (CBU) does not have money to effect any salary increment for “striking” lecturers who are demanding better conditions of services, Vice Chancellor Professor Naison Ngoma has said. Prof Ngoma said management was engaging the unions so that they could get back to work. He said that management agreed with the demands by the workers but that realistically speaking it was not possible for it to be implemented. “We have been meeting with the lecturers’ unions where we have managed to make headways because they will not go ahead with the planned go-slow as we work to find a solution to their grievances,” he said. Prof Ngoma said that they had presented a proposition to the ministry of Education to ensure that they chipped in and assisted with the issue.
