BAT MIGRATION ATTRACTS TOURISTSBy Brian MwaleThe number of local tourists visiting the Kasanka National Park famously known for the bat migration has risen from one percent before Covid-19 to about 60-percent.Kasanka Trust Limited General Manager JAMES MWANZA says more Zambians are now interested in visiting the park and see the bat migration were about 10-million bats fly off daily between October and December in search of wild fruits.Mr. MWANZA says Kasanka is known worldwide because of hosting the largest migration of fruit bats which come from various parts of Africa like South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC.He says the bats usually migrate about 1-hundred kilometers to feed on wild fruits and get back to the park around 03:00 hours.Mr. MWANZA said the migration is important for Kasanka National Park as it is a pillar for social economic development around the park and Game Management Area, because it attracts people […]
