By CHARLES MUSONDAFEIRA Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Banda, says the proposed mining in Lower Zambezi national park should go ahead.Mr. Banda told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that this is because the wildlife is found more than 42 kilometres away from the proposed mine site by Mwembeshi Resources Limited.He has assured Zambians that he will ensure that the mine is green smart and will also support wildlife in partnership with co-operating partners.He said despite Luangwa being one of the oldest districts in Zambia, it has no industry and lacks a stable source of income, forcing residents to depend on charcoal burning.Mr. Banda noted that there is illegal mining in the park but that it is important that a legally established mine is allowed to exist.And members of the clergy have supported the stance taken by Senior Chief Mphuka and Chief Mburuma to call on the mine owners to be on site and help develop the district, […]
