Dear editor,State Counsel John Sangwa has written a letter to President Bally to consider advertising the job of Chief Justice. Does such an approach add any value to the process of appointing a Chief Justice?Based on the system in place, per Constitution of Zambia, advertising such a job adds no value at all. I am even shocked the suggestion is coming from a constitution expert who should know better than all of us.Why am I saying advertising the job is a waste of time and resources?The final decision by Parliament, on who is appointed, doesn’t depend on CVs of the persons whose names have been submitted for ratification.In Parliament, ratification is done through voting. And voting in Parliament is done on partisan lines.
