WARMA PROPOSES WATER TAX RAISEBy SENIYA BANDATHE Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has proposed an upward revision of water tax because the current levels are not cost reflective.WARMA director General, Kenneth Nyuudu, said the country’s current water tax rates were the lowest in the southern region hence the need to make them cost reflective.Mr Nyuudu explained that due to the low water tax, WARMA has been facing challenges to sustain its operations.He said this when newly appointed Water Development Minister, Mike Mposha, conducted a familiarisation tour at WARMA.Meanwhile, Mr Mposha called on WARMA to continue revising regulations to enhance its service delivery.Mr Mposha said WARMA should ensure that the public follow the right procedure when drilling boreholes.
