By ROGERS KALEROZAMBIANS should brace for hard times following the decision by Government to work with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on various economic issues, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has said.EFF Secretary-General, Changala Siame, said the decision to work with the IMF could lead to harsh conditionalities such as a wage freeze for civil servants.In an interview in Kitwe at the weekend, Mr Siame said in most countries where the IMF plan has been implemented, economies have been devastated while people have been left in worse poverty situations.“In most countries where IMF plans have been implemented, strict austerity measures have left people in serious poverty. Those in government may be thinking they are fixing the economy, but they will end up fixing their own people.“So, to the workers and Zambians in general, I must urge them to brace for hard times under the IMF programme.
