BOZ DISPELS REPORTS THAT THE K65 million AND US$ 57 FOUND AT THE RESIDENCE OF FAITH MUSONDA WAS ISSUED BY BOZ.The Bank of Zambia (BOZ) has dispelled allegations that it was ordered to withdraw huge sums from cash from the bank to distribute to third parties.The statement from BOZ follows reports in some sections of the media suggesting that the BOZ ordered officers at to withdraw huge sums of money and distribute to third parties.BOZ assistant director communications Besnart Mwanza said in a statement the money recovered in Lusaka was found in travelling bags and transferred to the Bank of Zambia for safe keeping.Ms Mwanza said the Central Bank did not hold accounts for individuals but that it interacted with the public in terms of issuant of currency through commercial Banks.She said false reports suggesting otherwise have potential tarnish the image of the central bank and distabilise the financial sector and the economy.
