Dear Editor,A POLICE officer was last Monday assaulted by cadres from the United Party for National Development (UPND). The cadres in question attacked the Patriotic Front secretariat earlier in the day. This was when the party’s senior officials had a briefing.As if this was not enough, the UPND cadres went on rampage beating people in the Central Business District on the material day. The motive behind such thuggery by the cadres is unknown.President Hakainde Hichilema is on record as categorically stating that he would not condone any form of political violence by the political cadres under his administration.Political violence is an affront to democracy. As such, it should not be allowed to prevail.I therefore implore the police to launch a manhunt and ultimately arrest the political cadres who perpetrated violence last Monday on innocent people.In my opinion, I feel political mayhem is gone.
