By ADRIAN MWANZA THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has failed to defend itself over the statement that a former councillor in Lusaka bought a bank and its assets worth K300 million, a claim that was later denied by the Bank of Zambia.A week ago, ACC spokesperson, Queen Chibwe, made the announcement on the bank takeover and other cases her organisation was pursuing.Former President Edgar Lungu’s daughter Tasila has since sued some publications which linked her to the purported transaction.But the Bank of Zambia expressed ignorance on the alleged takeover of any bank in the country.BoZ expressed ignorance over the matter and that such a takeover was huge and that it was supposed to know if such a transaction had ever transpired.According to the central bank, the process of acquiring a bank was rigorous and applicants underwent scrutiny before any application could be granted.The twist of events however contradicted the ACC’s stance and remained quiet over the matter […]
