THE Petroleum Transporters Association (PTAZ) has demanded for full enforcement of SI No. 35 of 2021 which compels Oil Marketing Companies to ensure that 50 percent of allocated volumes are transported by Zambian citizens.In a letter addressed to Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) PTAZ Spokesperson Benson Tembo expressed concern with noncompliance to the provisions of the Statutory Instrument No.35 of 2021 by some Oil Marketing Companies in the allocation of volumes to be transported by Zambian citizens.Mr Tembo said the Ministry of Energy directed through the Import Waivers letters that Oil Marketing Companies that at least 50 percent of the allocated volume to be transported by Zambian citizens as stated in the Statutory but some OMCs have ignored these provisions but instead they are giving business to their preferred transporters some of whom are not citizens as prescribed by Citizens Economic and Empowerment Commission Act No.9 of 2006.Mr Tembo has demanded that the full length […]
