UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has been declared winner of the August 12 elections.Hichilema who has won the election with 2,810,757 votes against his closest rival Edgar Lungu who got 1,814, 201 was declared winner at 02:35 hours by returning officer Justice Esau Chulu.And UPND chairperson for elections Garry NKombo said the victory of President Hichilema was courtesy of the Zambian people.“We won’t let you down. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure we develope the country, ” He said.The announcement sent supporters into wild celebrations within the Mulunguishi International Conference Centre (MICC), the results centre.This is the sixth time the UPND is contesting the presidential elections.Meanwhile, celebrations on the streets of Lusaka that started before the declaration of the President elect , have intensified.It’s however not clear whether former president Edgar Lungu has conceded defeat or not.
