ZAMBIANS for Unity, Peace, and Development president Ronnie Jere has called on the UPND government to fight corruption fairly.Mr Jere has also asked President Hakainde Hichilema to be cautious on how to deal with corruption matters so that it was not seen as a witch hunt.He said in Livingstone that Zambians were eager to move from rhetoric to real action in the fight against corruption.Mr Jere said that they believed that the anti-corruption crusade should be in high gear.“Corruption is a cancer that eats up institutions of governance and service delivery and negatively impacts on the well-being of people.“We envisage an Anti-Corruption Commission that shall work independently to investigate and prosecute people and institutions entrusted to safeguard public resources on behalf of the people.”He also called for extensive efforts to uphold fairness and justice and called for respect for the rule of law.“Further we expect absolute independence and strengthening of other governance and watchdog institutions […]
