By NOEL IYOMBWATHE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has dismissed claims that over 20, 000 foreigners were issued with voter’s cards.ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, Patricia Luhanga said all individuals who were issued with voters’ cards had Zambian national registration cards.Ms Luhanga however said it was not the job of the ECZ to determine whether people presenting the said NRCs were genuine Zambians or not.“When someone comes to obtain a voter’s card, as long as they produce a green National Registration Card and are of age, we give them,” she said.Ms. Luhanga said the ECZ issues voter’s cards to citizens who hold national registration cards.She said that it is not the responsibility of ECZ to issue NRCs but to issue voter’s cards to whoever was an eligible Zambian.Ms. Luhanga said it was not possible to issue voter’s cards to foreign nationals.“It is not possible to issue voters’ cards to foreigners because when one is getting a […]
