By STEPHEN MWEWAGovernment has released K2.3 million to pay 7, 289 beneficiaries of the social cash transfer (SCT) in Kasama, for May and June.Kasama District Commissioner, Kelly Kashiwa, who confirmed the development yesterday, said the disbursement of the funds among the beneficiaries has since started.Mr Kashiwa said that the Ministry of Community Development through its Social Welfare Department has further enumerated additional of 2000 beneficiaries in the district.They would be placed on social cash transfer by September, this year.Government, he said, was committed to improving the living standards of vulnerable people in society and that the programme should not be politicized.Mr Kashiwa said that the government would continue identifying more beneficiaries to be placed on the social cash transfer scheme.
