CANDIDATES COMPLAIN OVER PAYING SECOND NOMINATION FEE

BY NOEL IYOMBWA                                                                                                                                                                       IT is unfair to make candidates pay nomination fees when  someone withdraws from the race, and Electoral Commission of Zambia should not insist on this rule, a Munali aspiring candidate Semba Chimbalanga  has said.Mr Chimbalanga  said it was too taxing to ask the same candidates to start paying such huge amounts when they should be spending on candidates.He said the Commission should instead penalize the candidates who withdraw.And ZANIS reports that aspiring candidates for the Kasenengwa parliamentary seat have described as unfair the legal provision requiring them to pay to the  Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) another fee for fresh nominations.The aspiring parliamentary candidates for the Kasenegwa seat will on Monday July 12, 2021 be required to file fresh nominations following the death of the United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Titus Miti.Speaking during the stakeholders meeting yesterday, Alice Kalima who is contesting as an independent candidate complained that it is […]
