By NOEL IYOMBWA MORE than 28, 700 vulnerable secondary school girls have been offered bursaries under the ‘keeping girl’s project” since inception in 2016, Ministry of General Education spokesperson Nondo Chilongo has said.Ms Chilongo said the supported girls were in 29 districts across the 10 provinces in which the project was being implemented.This came to light during the girl’s education and women empowerment and livelihood project first quarter technical committee virtual meeting which was held recently.She said the project was being implemented by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.The project focuses on increasing livelihood support for extremely poor rural women and access to secondary education for vulnerable girls in extremely poor households in selected districts.Ms Chilongo stated that the project was funded by the World Bank.She explained that the first component was supporting women’s livelihoods initiative while the second component was the keeping girls in school initiative.“The third component is the institutional strengthening and […]
