Sat, 08 Jul 2017 13:26:33 +0000 By SANDRA MACHIMA ZAMBIA has reaffirmed her commitment to the United Nations peace-keeping mission in its continued participation in conflict prevention and resolution, according to the Permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Lazarous Kapambwe. Ambassador Kapambwe said he was looking forward to enhancing the country’s diplomatic relations with the UN by working closely with the office of the Secretary General. He said the mission would also champion the escalation of the Kampala Convention on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to the attention of the global body. The Kampala Convention is the world’s first continental instrument that legally binds governments to protect the rights and well-being of people forced to flee their homes by conflict, violence, disasters and human rights abuses.
