Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:28:42 +0000 By Buumba Chimbulu A STANDARD for motor vehicle used tyres has been published by the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) which clearly specifies requirements for the commodity. The standard, among other requirements, clearly specifies that a used tyre should have a minimum average tread depth of 4.0 mm, measured from four points or locations on the tyre with the shallowest tread depth. ZABS head of marketing and public relations, Hazel Zulu, said the development of this standard was undertaken by the Automobiles Technical Committee represented by a number of institutions. Ms. Zulu said among the institutions were, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), Toyota Zambia Limited, CFAO Zambia and Commuters Rights Association of Zambia.
