Wed, 23 Nov 2016 13:36:10 +0000 A MAN identified as Hassan Chipeta, 22, of Mungule was in the early hours of yesterday axed to death by his wife after a marital dispute. Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said on Sunday Chipeta and his wife Violet Mvula, 20, had some differences which led to the man beating her up. But the following day around 04.00 while Chipeta was asleep, the wife axed him in the head and he sustained deep cuts. Ms Katongo said the incident occurred at Chipungu village in Mungule area in Kabangwe and the victim died on the way to University Teaching Hospital (UTH) and the body is lying in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem while the wife was in police custody. “We call upon all stakeholders in the fight against gender based violence to get involved in sensitization campaigns so as to discourage this scourge which is now becoming the order of the day.
