Both the PF and the United Party for National Development (UPND) had applied for notifications to hold public meetings in Kitwe yesterday at the same venue and time. Police summoned both parties for a meeting where it was resolved that the UPND rally should not go ahead. UPND Copperbelt secretary Mr P. Muyaba and his vice Mr. M.K Muletambo had requested to hold a rally to thank its supporters for voting for them during the August 11, 2016 general elections. According to a notification given to the police, UPND leaders Hakainde Hichilema, Geoffrey Mwamba, Mutale Nalumango were supposed to address the planned rally.
