The party leadership has warned Dr Mumba to form his own political party and enter into a marriage of convenience with the UPND, “since that is your source of livelihood or we start contempt proceedings against you for masquerading as our president,” the MMD has warned Nevers Mumba. Party national treasurer Christopher Banda warned that the MMD had restrained itself for a long time over Dr. Mumba’s truant behaviour but said it will no longer entertain lawlessness and watch Dr. Mumba bringing the party in disrepute.
