Sun, 03 Sep 2017 12:41:53 +0000 By KETRA KALUNGA THE Zambia Correctional Service has welcomed the proposal by Justice Minister, Given Lubinda to construct a court near Mwembeshi correctional facility to expedite cases for inmates lodged there. Zambia Correctional Service commissioner- general, Percy Chato says the move will enable inmates have access to justice because without it, inmates would not have a fair and quick trial. Speaking to the Daily Nation in an interview, Mr Chato said the construction of a court near Mwembeshi would reduce the cost implication of transferring inmates to prison and at the same time make it easy for them to appear before court. He said the issue of congestion at Lusaka Central Correctional Facility commonly known as Chimbokaila and Kamwala Remand would be dealt with as some inmates from these facilities will be transferred to Mwembeshi Correctional Facility once the court was constructed.
