Central Province police commissioner Joel Njanse confirmed the development in an interview yesterday and identified the deceased as Charles Phiri, 55, of Chimanimani Township and Kamfwa Mwewa, 55, of New Ngungu Township. Mr Njase said the accident happened when an unknown vehicle driven by an unknown driver hit the victims who were walking along Buntungwa Avenue. “I can confirm that a man of Chimanimani identified as Charles Phiri aged 55 years died on the spot while another man known as Kamfwa Mwewa, 55 of New Ngungu sustained serious injuries in a hit and ran accident that happened in Kabwe around 19:30 hours along Buntungwa road,” said Mr Njase.
