It did not take the young man Christopher Kang’ombe (Mayor of Kitwe) to wait until cholera struck for him to clean up the city. It took the whole Head of State to intervene in cleaning Lusaka by employing soldiers to clean up the rubbish in the Central Business District. Are those soldiers employed by the Ministry of Local Government? Where are Kalumba’s cleaners? Has Kalumba even had time to address vendors on sanitation? The only job of Kalumba’s workers at Lusaka City Council is to collect money from traders and motorists and pocket it!
