Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya said the issue of maternal deaths was very close to the President Lungu’s heart. Contributing to the motion of thanks to President Lungu’s address to the National Assembly delivered on September 15, 2017, Dr Chilufya said investment in a mother and children’s hospital was also a clear statement of intent that President Lungu does not want any woman to die while giving birth. Dr Chilufya, who is Mansa Central Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament, said President Lungu had tasked the Ministry of Health to do its utmost to ensure it eliminated all preventable maternal deaths.
