Mr Kapapula told the Daily Nation in an interview that the total cost for the project was K1.2 million, adding that so far K400,000 had been sourced from the Ward Development Fund (WDF). He said the balance would be raised from the Pubic Private Partnership (PPP). He said the Lusaka City Council (LCC) has since approved the upgrading of the Longacres market into a two-storey building. The facility would accommodate more marketeers, including displaced street vendors who had been removed from the area following the cholera outbreak. “The project has already been approved by the council so we are waiting for final approval from the Ministry of Local Government,” he said.
