When a leader loses an election they stand down to allow others to try. But in Zambia an election loss is turned into a fountain of bitterness against the victor. This hatred just makes you to cost your party future victories. KK contributed to the disappearing of UNIP because he couldn’t allow anyone else to lead the party even when the constitution was amended to bar him. He came out of retirement and hounded Kebby Musokotwane from the presidency. That was the beginning of the end of UNIP.
