Sat, 17 Feb 2018 14:13:59 +0000 By JUSTINA MULENGA PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has called for quick resolution to controversies surrounding the infamous Copper slug black mountain in Kitwe. President Lungu said the issues surrounding the black mountain should be resolved as soon as possible to find ways of empowering local community’s especially young people. He made the remarks yesterday when he met 20 small-scale miners and other representatives to discuss how the contentious issues could be resolved. The meeting agreed that all pending court cases on the black mountain should be terminated soonest by a consent to allow for the proposed amicable settlement next week. Last year Vice president, Inonge Wina told parliament that government would hand over the infamous copper slug, Black Mountain to the rightful owner after determination by the courts. Mrs. Wina said a portion of the black mountain was being negotiated to be given to youths for empowerment.
