By SANFROSSA MANYINDAKAFUBU Water and Sanitation Company has been given a go ahead by government to undertake a feasibility study for the development of a 150 megawatts floating solar photovoltaic PV system.The water company will under the initiative to generate electricity on the newly constructed 125 million m3 capacity Kafulafuta Dam in Masaiti District.Early this month, the company announced its plans to develop a floating solar photovoltaic PV system to generate electricity on the newly constructed Kafulafuta Dam.Kafubu Managing Director, Athanasius Mwaba, said Government through the Ministry of Energy had since given the firm 24 months in which to undertake the feasibility study.Mr Mwaba said the power to be generated at the dam was targeted to power the water and sewerage facilities with excess to be evacuated to the national grid.“The project will generate additional revenue for the company as the utility expects to generate over 10 million United States dollars monthly under the initiative.“Hundreds […]
