Lusaka’s Emmasdale residents of Indian origin blocked Kawimbe and Lukoma roads by erecting gates which are manned by security guards, a move which riled not only the area Member of Parliament Lloyd Kaziya but also members of the public. And one of the Indians spoken who sought anonymity explained they agreed as a community to erect a gate to block unnecessary entry for security reasons due to recent high cases of thefts in their neighborhood. And on Tuesday this week, the LCC gave the Indian community 24 hours to remove illegal gates erected in Lusaka’s Emmasdale area before the council moves in to demolish them.
