Mr Banda said the waste bins were meant to keep the environment clean by stopping people from throwing litter carelessly and make use of the bins. He said there was a tendency among members of the community, schools, police and other public places of throwing litter carelessly. “Throwing of litter carelessly in the community can cause many diseases and is a health hazard,” he said. He said this when he presented one waste bin at Ngwerere School, one at Garden police post, one at Garden health post and one at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe school.
