Speaking to the Daily Nation, project coordinator John Longwe said that Chilubi had no library since independence such that residents travelled to Mansa in Luapula Province for their academic research. Mr Longwe said the project was initiated and funded by the district education office in collaboration with the community. “The K361, 000 facility came following numerous challenges pupils and teachers face in accessing studying materials and research in our district, ” he said. He said that so far K30,000 had been raised through various fundraising ventures and donations from stakeholders. “We have a committee that has already started purchasing building materials and construction tools in readiness to commence the construction works expected to finish in the next three weeks,” he said.
