Mon, 05 Feb 2018 15:16:36 +0000 By LINDA SOKO TEMBO Over 5,000 settlers at Old Regiment in Ndola’s Twashuka ward will not be displaced because Inter Africa Petroleum Company, which is claiming to have bought the land, has no evidence of ownership, says Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament Jonas Chanda. In an interview, Dr. Chanda said the land transaction was illegal adding that the settlers who had occupied it for 55 years were the rightful owners. “Ministry of Lands has guidance on how you have to displace people. You cannot displace people minus compensation,” Dr. Chanda said. He said he had never met Inter Africa Petroleum Company officials in person and that they just wrote to him claiming to have bought the land.
