PRETORIA – As South Africa battles the deadly second wave of COVID-19, pastors say people need counselling and the word of God.Church leaders gathered in Pretoria to deliver a memorandum to the government at the Union Buildings.They want the government to allow churches to reopen and they promise to follow all safety protocols.A group of pastors mainly from Gauteng charismatic churches, but also joined by pastors from further afield, gathered at Pretoria’s Church Square.They went to the Union Buildings to hand over their memorandum to the government.The church leaders say they are against the closure of churches under the adjusted level 3 of the lockdown.No social gatherings, faith-based gatherings, political gatherings, or traditional council meetings are permitted under lockdown Alert Level 3 to prevent COVID-19 superspreaders events.Church leaders say the government must allow them to administer to their congregants while following COVID-19 protocols.The protestors say their services are needed, as many people are suffering from […]
