By MULENGA MUSONDAA MAN’S decision to self-prescribe marijuana as a herbal medicine for his ear infection has landed him in court.Andrew Nchepeshi, aged 21, told the Choma Magistrates Court that he was using the marijuana that he is accused of trafficking in to treat his ear infection.In this matter, Nchepeshi is charged with Likando Manenga, 20, for trafficking in psychotropic substances contrary to the laws of Zambia.Allegations are that Nchepeshi and Manenga trafficked in 6.3gm of marijuana, a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.The two were apprehended, arrested and charged on December 7 in Choma.When they appeared for plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, Nchepeshi willingly admitted the charge and stated that he was using the controlled drug to cure his ear infection.On the other hand, his co accused Manenga denied any wrong doing.Magistrate Munukayumbwa entered a plea of guilty in respect of Nchepeshi and a plea of innocent for Manenga.The […]
