By SIMON MUNTEMBAI RESPECT the Constitutional Court’s ruling and I will pay back the salaries and allowances I was paid in 2016 when Parliament was dissolved, Minister of Tourism and Arts Ronald Chitotela has said.Mr Chitotela is among the over 60 ministers and deputy ministers who were given salaries and allowance because they had remained in offices from May to July 2016 after Parliament was dissolved.The ConCourt recently ruled that the 63 former ministers and their deputies must pay back to the State treasury K4, 266, 664.10 for the period of May to July 2016 which they were paid when Parliament was closed.ConCourt registrar, Dorcas Malama said the former ministers and their deputies were given up to January 5, 2021 to pay back the money.Reacting to the ultimatum given to the ministers and their deputies, Mr Chitotela who served as Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development then said he was ready to pay back the […]
