By SANFROSSA MANYINDATHE Kitwe City Council has cleared 27 street children from the Central Business District (CBD) and resettled in a children’s home.According to the local authority, the operation took place on Thursday afternoon.Council Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, told the Daily Nation that the children, between the ages of 10 and 18, have since been taken to the children’s home in Kawama Township.Ms Mwamba said the decision was arrived at after the council observed the increasing levels of attacks on motorists and pedestrians.“We want to bring down crime especially against women in the CBD that is why we have taken the step we have,” she said.Ms Mwamba said it was wrong to have street kids violating other people’s rights by attacking them, a situation she said would not be allowed to continue.She disclosed that the cases of malicious damage caused by the street kids were also on the rise in the CBD.The Public Relations […]
