IF the proposed Kalungwishi Constituency is created following the ongoing delimitation exercise by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), aspiring parliamentary candidate Lameki Mwila says he is ready to roll out an ambitious development blueprint anchored on the Kalungwishi Economic Transformation Initiative (KETI).
Mr. Mwila said the initiative is aimed at turning the Kalungwishi River into a sustainable engine of economic growth, job creation and community prosperity.
“Kalungwishi River must not only flow with water, but with opportunity for our people,”
Mr. Mwila said.
“Through this initiative, we are turning natural resources into economic power for every household.”
He explained that under the economic empowerment pillar, KETI will focus on promoting small-scale irrigation schemes to enable farmers to harvest throughout the year, while youth and women will be supported with aquaculture training and community-owned fish farming cooperatives.
The programme will also introduce organised fishing zones to ensure sustainable utilisation of the river’s resources.
Mr. Mwila said the second pillar will centre on infrastructure development and tourism promotion to unlock the river’s full potential. Planned projects include improving access roads, constructing small bridges, establishing eco-tourism sites, and installing solar lighting and clean water facilities in surrounding communities.
“We want development that people can see and feel immediately,” he said. “KETI is about practical solutions that improve income, create jobs and build pride in our community.”
Ends.
