The battle for control of the Patriotic Front (PF) reaches a decisive moment today as the Lusaka High Court prepares to deliver a judgment that could finally settle the question of who is the party’s rightful president.
After months of internal wrangles, rival claims, and competing factions, the court’s ruling is widely expected to bring clarity to a dispute that has gripped the former ruling party and reshaped its internal power dynamics.
At the heart of the legal contest is the legitimacy of the party’s leadership and the interpretation of its constitution. The players are faction president Robert Chabinga and his Secretary General Morgan Ng’ona vs Miles Sampa.
The judgment is anticipated to not only determine who lawfully holds the presidency of the PF, but also to chart the party’s immediate political direction. Supporters from both sides have been closely watching the proceedings, hopeful that the court’s decision will either validate their preferred leadership or redefine the party’s structure going forward.
Political observers say the outcome could have far-reaching implications, particularly as the PF seeks to reposition itself ahead of the 2026 General elections. The ruling is expected to provide legal certainty on the matter and potentially bring an end to prolonged internal instability.
All eyes are now on the High Court Judge Conceptor Chinyawa- Zulu,as the party , and the nation, await a verdict that could reshape the future of one of Zambia’s most prominent political movements.
