Miles Sampa has remained the Matero Member of Parliament after the Constitutional Court dismissed a petition by PF faction secretary general Morgan N’gona, who sought the nullification of the seat.
In its ruling, the court found that Mr N’gona’s petition lacked merit and failed to meet the constitutional threshold required to invalidate a parliamentary seat.
Mr N’gona had petitioned the court, arguing that the Speaker of the National Assembly ought to have declared the Matero seat vacant following what he claimed were constitutional infractions involving Mr Sampa.
He contended that the circumstances surrounding Mr Sampa’s continued occupancy of the seat were inconsistent with the Constitution.
