PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Miseshi Ward Councillor and aspiring Kitwe Mayor Charles Bwembya has said he has the experience and understanding of the functions and operations of the Kitwe City Council e bouncing back in 2021, said he was set to take over from Ms Mpasa Mwaya because of his experience and understanding of how the local authority operates.
In an interview in Kitwe, Mr Bwembya said, besides being experienced and understanding the operations of the local authority, he also has a track record of delivering on many of his campaign promises when he was first elected as councillor in 2011 and in 2021
He said, after being elected in 2011, he carried out a number of projects which included the construction of a market shelter at Miseshi market, street lights and toilets at BB area
He said after bouncing back as Miseshi Ward Councillor in 2021 , he embarked on a number of projects which included street lighting projects , borehole drilling in EXB area and ablution block at Buntungwa school
“Am not boasting, but am sure you can see that am the most experienced serving councillor who also understands the functions and operations of the local authority and deserves to be elected Kitwe Mayor.
“I am not only experienced, but also humble and have a proven track record of my performance in Miseshi Ward where I first served as Councillor in 2011 before bouncing back in 2021. Am grateful to God that he has given me wisdom to have respect for people and not to be arrogant,’’ Mr Bwembya said
Mr Bwembya has also said one of his priority areas once elected as Mayor was to use his position to create a strong relationship with various stakeholders to find solutions to challenges of garbage collections , indiscriminate disposal of waste among other challenges
Mr Bwembya also said, once elected as Mayor , he will use his experience and knowledge to drive progress and development while focusing on Infrastructure Development, improving roads, public transport, and community facilities
“Apart from supporting local businesses to create jobs, he will also come up with initiatives to support social services, Improving access to quality education, healthcare, and social services, environmental Sustainability, promoting environmental conservation and renewable energy,’’ he said
