Dear Editor,
AFTER the Trump administration in the United States threw spanners into our HIV/AIDS treatment programme, our only way out is to immediately make Dr Ludwig Sondashi’s medicine SF2000 take the centre stage.
Moreover, his SF2000 I am reliably informed, does kill the virus altogether instead of keeping people on tablets for the rest of their lives.
This powerful drug should not be looked down and can in fact be shared with other African countries and put Zambia on the world map in the world of medicine.
Our UPND government should without any delay engage Dr Sondashi to plan the way forward to avoid loss of human life. I know for sure that if Dr Sondashi was white, the whole world would have taken his work seriously. But for being black, no one wants to hear anything about his SF2000.
I strongly feel African governments, through the African Union should call for an emergency session to map the way forward on the issue of HIV/AIDS including the SF2000 wonder drug. The behaviour of Washington, appalling as it may be, should be seen as a blessing in disguise and I know out there are a good number of African countries treating their HIV/AIDS patients with amazing success.
Africans should not fold their hands in defeat but should hold the bull by its horns and find a lasting solution to Trump’s misdemeanor.
DAVID NDHLOVU,
Lusaka.
