THE Tonse Alliance has announced a series of interim leadership appointments as the coalition finalizes its larger leadership structure, Zambia’s Sixth President Edgar Lungu has said.
In a statement released on behalf of the alliance, Dr. Lungu, who is the Tonse Allaince chairperson and Patriotic Front (PF) president has named key figures to various national leadership roles, emphasizing their role in guiding and coordinating Tonse activities.
Among those appointed included Brain Mundubile, the Mporokoso Member of Brian Mundubile,
will serve as the National Parliamentary Affairs Chairman, with Mr. Chifumu Banda SC, vice president of the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD), as his deputy.
In youth leadership, Mr. Celestine Mukandila has been appointed National Youth Chairman, while Mr. Jason Mwanza, the Founding President of Gen Z, will serve as Vice Chairman. Similarly, the student affairs portfolio will be led by Mr. Shadreck Mumba, former UNZASU President and ZAYES Founder Leader, alongside Mr. Ibrahim Mwamba, President of SASYDA, as his deputy.
For women’s affairs, Madam Exilda Mwenya, President of the National Economic Dialogue (NED), has been named Chairlady, with Ms. Charity Mpundu Kapona, a PF MCC member, serving as Vice Chairlady.
Mr Lungu expressed confidence in the appointed individuals, stating that they will play a crucial role in shaping and coordinating the alliance’s activities.
He reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to unity under the national motto, “One Zambia, One Nation.”
The announcement comes as the Tonse Alliance works towards unveiling its full leadership team, signaling a renewed political effort ahead of upcoming national engagements.
