Dear Editor,
THAT our economy is forever overheating, is an understatement because the truth is that it has already died and become trickier to forecast its outlook
This is not to talk about the Kwacha that has continued to lose its battle against the dollar and rightly so because to have a strong currency you need a vibrant export market which we currently do not have.
Even our darling Monetary Policy Rate trick has failed to perform to expectations. My advice to our Bank of Zambia governor, Dr Denny Kalyalya is to forget this MPR deal because it will never work.
With our current electricity crisis, it is much easier to see our collapsed industrial performance with a telling effect on our economy.
Telling lies about the performance of our economy has only helped to fuel a litany of our new challenges.
Life for ordinary Zambians has become unbearable as the people now do not know how to be happy because poverty is growing in leaps and bounds.
The prices of commodities are forever rising, bringing about periods of doubt to the people who had placed too much hope in the so-called new dawn administration. Equally the rising rates of inflation is another bone of huge contention to reckon with.
For me, I think the men and women at the helm of Bank of Zambia and Ministry of Finance and National Planning appear to have failed in their duties to grow the economy.
It is about time, I think, they voluntarily vacated their chairs of authority. There is need now more than ever before for the ruling UPND to promote open-handed, decisive paradigm to foster transformational leadership in the service of Zambians.
Nothing else will do.
JACKSON CHITUNDU,
Kitwe.
