NATIONAL Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) executive director Dr Aaron Chansa has called for transparency and accountability in the forthcoming teacher recruitment.
Dr. Chansa was reacting to the government announcement that no fresh applications will be accepted for the forthcoming teacher recruitment but rely on the applications that are already in the system.
Dr Chansa said he welcomes the government move to recruit teachers using old applications as this will absorb the old applicants.
“There is fear that other people who did not apply in certain district might be considered since there will be no openness,” he said.
Dr Chansa said the practice on relaying on submitted data which was done last year is something that the applicants will not be able to spent money and it also allows teachers who have been waiting for years it will give them chance because they are already in the database.
But the teaching service commissioning to allow more stakeholders if the exercise will be transparent and trusted they need orders to be allowed to be part of the process.
