He said modalities need to be put in place to ensure that the agenda is actualised.
President Hichilema has since instructed Transport and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali, to ensure that the airport is transformed to an international airport.
Mr Hichilema said this will enable easy access for investors who want to bring investment in Northern Province.
He was speaking in Kasama yesterday when he officially commissioned the newly upgraded Kasama airport.
And Mr Hichilema said the newly upgraded airport will bring development not only in Northern Province but the country at large. He is optimistic that with this development, tourism, agriculture and mining sectors will receive more investment.
“This airport was supposed to be upgraded not 10 years ago but 15 to 16 years ago but it never happened. All these years’ promises were made but nothing happened.
Last year when I came here (Kasama) Mwinelubemba presented issues that people of Kasama want among them was the upgrading of Kasama airport. And we have done it,” President Hichilema said.
He said the new dawn administration is geared to work for the people of Zambia.
